MONTREAL

I chose Montreal as a travel destination
due to it is my birthplace and the setting
for my novel.Although I do not live in the
city of Montreal any longer it will always
be my home.Old Montreal (Vieux-Montreal
is the oldest part of Montreal founded in
May 1642. It was declared an historical district
in 1964 by the Ministere des Affaires culturelles
du Quebec. The Old Port (Vieux-Port) takes up
old Montreal's riverbank streets that are still
lined in the original cobblestones and draped
with the flare of European style architecture design.
There are many attractions and museums to take
in. During the summer months the city is alive
with street performers and the cafe's  in the
Old Port are full of people gathering while the
sounds of French and various ethnic music echoes
in the air.In 1830 an extraordinary landmark church
was built named Notre Dame Basilica. It houses the
most beautiful artistically stained glass you will ever
see.The architecture of this church is only to be seen
and felt as you walk in amazement with the feel of the
1800's.I will forever keep this vibrant multi cultured
city close to my heart. I recommend a visit to Montreal
in any season. My favorite time is the spring !
